Massage therapy has numerous benefits, and of course our four legged pals can benefit from them as well as we can. As we learn more about the importance of our own self-care, we are also learning about the deeper care and wellbeing of our loyal companions. 

Structural adjustments are gentle and beneficial, but they are not the same thing as a chiropractic treatment. Whereas chiropractic relies on quick thrust techniques, structural adjustment is pressure based and encourages the structures to realign themselves naturally. 

Saddle fit is so extremely important. Many issues with a horse can be due to improper saddle fit. Having an assessment often is ideal, as fitness levels change and horses age. If all else doesn't seem to be working to help your horse, it could be saddle fit. 

General body work is energy work. Horses respond quite well to energy work, and in cases of severe pain, or emotional issues, truama, etc, energy work can be a gentle, initial introduction to other work. Through energy work we can also assess the different needs of a horse from treatment types, to feed, to environment. It may seem a little out there as a concept, and honestly I felt the same myself, by seeing the response in horses I work on speaks for itself. 

Herbalism is very dear to me. It is one of my absolute passions in life, and I am very excited to be able to help horses with it. Horses typically do respond well to herbal remedies, as they are animals easting plants all day, and if we can help them and safely encourage their healing with them then that is excellent. I do not, however, diagnose, and I strongly encourage owners to still seek out veterinary advice, of course. Herbal treatments, like all modalities, should be one part of a healing path that includes other avenues for the best results. 

Flower essences have long been a favourite of mine, as they are safe for anyone and they are effective, with patience. Essential oils are different, but also lovely and effective. Not all of them are safe, and require precautions, but they can be used effectively with our horse friends.
